AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Posted on behalf of Dr. Peter Bandettini:

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) invites applications for a post-doctoral position in the Section on Functional Imaging Methods, directed by Dr. Peter A. Bandettini. Our research is focused on better understanding and advancing both resting-state and activation-based fMRI. Two secondary goals are: to advance fMRI so that it can be used to help characterize, differentiate, and diagnose individuals rather than populations, and to develop a deeper understanding of dynamic changes in the brain with learning.

The applicant for this position should have a Ph.D. in a specialty related to fMRI, EEG, MEG, and/or MRI. They should be comfortable with MRI acquisition, reconstruction, and processing platforms. Above all, the candidate should have a passion for developing and advancing fMRI.

The Section on Functional Imaging Methods (SFIM) has direct access to an array of scanners operated by the fMRI core facility. These include two GE 3T HDx scanners, one GE 3T 750 scanner, one Siemens Skyra 3T scanner, and one Siemens 7T scanner. In addition, MEG, EEG, tDCS, TMS, PET, optical imaging, and animal imaging facilities are readily available. The NIH intramural program is among the largest and best communities of MRI and neuroscience researchers in the world, with opportunities to collaborate with leaders in the field of fMRI, DTI, susceptibility contrast, parallel imaging, and molecular imaging, among other MRI-based specialties. Lastly, researchers have collaborative access to a wide range of normal and patient populations across institutes.

The applicant must be highly independent, highly skilled in data manipulation; able to work with a large team, and highly motivated to develop novel methods. The salary for the position is highly competitive. Applicants should send a curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation to Peter A. Bandettini, Ph.D. Building 10, Room 1D80, 10 Center Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892-1148, 301-402-1333, bandettini@nih.gov, by August 1, 2014. TTY: The National Institutes of Health is an equal opportunity employer.
