AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

We are excited to announce the details for the New York City Brainhack to be held October 18 & 19 at New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Brainhack is a unique conference that convenes researchers from across the globe and a myriad of disciplines to work together on innovative projects related to neuroscience. Year after year, global Brainhack events have brought together researchers to participate in open collaboration, and now we are proud to introduce regional Brainhack events that will keep the momentum going throughout the year.

To kick off the new model, Brainhack Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) will unite several regional Brainhack events during October 18 & 19, 2014. Having several simultaneous events will help build a critical mass for the regional Brainhack movement and will provide opportunities for inter-Brainhack collaboration. The New York City Brainhack will be held at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and will be connected to other regional Brainhacks in Ann Arbor, Boston, Miami, Montreal, Porto Alegre, Toronto and Washington DC by video conference. The New York City Brainhack aims to foster collaborations across the diverse neuroscience interests and institutions throughout Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Brainhack is not your average Hackathon, it is a place where brain enthusiast from a variety of different backgrounds can come together to work collaboratively to answer neuroscientific questions. Although the projects performed at Brainhack will likely be performed using computers, it is by no means restricted to programmers. No matter what your skill level or area of expertise you will be able to both contribute and learn at Brainhack. If you are from a different field and want to learn more about Brains, your invited too!

To prepare for the New York City Brainhack:

1. Sign up online at [goo.gl] so that we can make sure we have room for you.
2. If you have an idea for a project, post it to brainhack.org so that others can learn about it. If you don't have a project idea, check brainhack.org frequently to see what projects other attendees are proposing.
3. Bring your laptop computer along with tools, data, and enthusiasm on October 18th and 19th.

Speakers at the New York City brainhack include Alan Anticevic MD from Yale University School of Medicine and Guillermo Horga, MD from New York State Psychiatric Insitute.

For more information about Brainhack EDT and to see projects from Brainhack's past, check out brainhack.org.

The New York City Brainhack is sponsored by the Child Mind Institute, Amazon and the New York Psychiatric Institute.

We look forward to seeing you at the New York Brainhack!
