Hi Emily-
>> It actually looks like I don't have that option. I have the latest afni version (AFNI 2011_12_21_1014), but not the latest precompiled binary (which appears to be just a recent update January 23, 2015), mine is from June 19 2014.
Myself, I don't look at the naming conventions of the "AFNI 2011_12_21_1014" because the naming convention and meaning is buried at a deeper level than I can comprehend. However, whether from precompiled binary or source, the version date tells the story of what 'version' you are using. And June 2014 was a lifetime ago...
Please update your code. Just as a recommendation, I think it would be a good idea to have a once-every-few-weeks or once-a-month policy to update your AFNI, as new updates and fixes get put in all the time, often with increasing convenience for users. If you are blessed with fast internet connection, there's really no suffering, and mostly only gain.
Also, I think this individual thread has both become quite long and wandered from it's original question-- we can continue discussing the visualization things, but at this point I'd recommend starting a new comment/thread to deal with this (the title on the Message Board is getting squeezed into several lines on my browser).
