Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position at UC Davis
Center for Mind and Brain
University of California, Davis

Dr. Amanda Guyer and Dr. Paul Hastings seek a full-time postdoctoral research fellow supported by funds from the National Institute of Mental Health and University of California, Davis. The start date is flexible although we are interested in having it filled as soon as possible. This position is for up to two years, with the possibility of an extension depending on grant funding.

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist with developmental and quantitative training to work on an NIMH-funded, longitudinal study investigating the neurobiological correlates of depression in adolescents from Mexican-origin families. The study draws on multiple methods of inquiry, including fMRI, autonomic psychophysiological, neuroendocrine and immunological measures, as well as behavioral responses and questionnaires.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for analyzing neurobiological, psychophysiological and behavioral data; developing appropriate statistical models for longitudinal analyses; assisting the PIs with data analyses; supervising graduate trainees; and writing scientific papers and presentations. Additional opportunities to work on other ongoing studies and analyze and report on archival data are also available.

Position qualifications include a PhD in developmental or quantitative psychology or related field; strong experimental and statistical skills and experience with statistical analysis packages (SPSS, SAS, R, MPlus); ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks and projects and to share expertise through training others.

Desired (not required) skills include: Experience with specialized software programs for psychophysiological, neuroimaging, and/or experimental methods (AFNI, FSL, MATLAB, SPM, MindWare, BioLab, E-prime); experience with fMRI acquisition and analysis; experience with psychophysiological testing and analysis; experience with neuroendocrine assaying and analysis. Excellent scientific writing skills are also desired.

Please send a letter of research interests, a CV, and contact information for three references to Amanda Guyer (aeguyer@ucdavis.edu) and Paul Hastings (pdhastings@ucdavis.edu). Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
