AFNI/NIfTI Server

When I try a similar command (1dcat ../'cosall.1D[2]' | 1dplot -stdin), it works fine for me. This is from a file that has 8 columns of numbers. When I extract column '[0]' from a 1 column file, that also works fine. I also tried it with waver, similarly to your example, and have no problem.

1) Make sure your AFNI is up to date.

2) Make sure there is no stray non-numeric character in the 1D file. Can you 1dplot the file, for example?

3) If that doesn't fix the problem, e-mail me the 1D file and I'll try it here.
