Resizing a .nii image

I'm trying to do something that I think should be simple, but it's not working. I have a 64x64x16 .nii image, and I want to resample it to 128x128x16 and keep the same field of view. I can change it to 128x128x16 using 3dresample, but that doesn't change the step sizes (as shown by 3dinfo). I tried 3drefit, which seemed the obvious choice, but the step size remains the same as the original image, and the image shows up squashed in height in the AFNI viewer since the x and y fields of view are doubled.

To compund the problem, we're using a hodge-podge of AFNI, FSL, SPM, and matlab to do our processing, so any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve
