Hi Jim,

I do not know why you need to go through all this hassle. Looking at the fit time series should suffice usually, along with the stats from the linear regression analysis.
The kosher issue may come up depending on what devious intentions you have for these averaged trials. You can end up in a world of 'circularity' (see Niko Kriegeskorte's paper on his website: http://www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/people/nikolaus.kriegeskorte/circularity.html
If you just want to remove baseline fluctuations with filtering, you can instead reconstruct the signal from the regression analysis results without adding the baseline. The program for that would be 3dSynthesize.
