AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hello,

By default (including auto-generated preprocessing scripts), the smoothing kernel in 3dMerge is 4mm. The example in the 3dMerge documentation uses this size kernel for voxels that are 3.75x3.75x3.5. The voxels in my data are slightly smaller (3x3x4). A reviewer has raised the question as to whether the assumptions of Gaussian Random Field theory are violated when using a smoothing kernel this small. Since 4mm is the default, I presume this is the recommended kernel size, for averaged sized voxels. Can someone please help address the concern?
