Candidates are being considered for a full-time Faculty Specialist position with the working title of Staff Scientist at the Maryland Neuroimaging Center (MNC: www.mnc.umd.edu) directed by Dr. Luiz Pessoa at the University of Maryland, College Park. The Staff Scientist will be involved in the development of new tools for the analysis of neuroimaging (especially functional MRI) data using advanced methods including machine learning, graph-theory/network analysis, and other computational/statistical techniques. The staff scientist is also expected to assist the users of the Center with the design of new neuroimaging experiments, and to provide technical assistance as needed to facilitate and enhance the research environment at the MNC.

The ideal applicant will have a PhD degree in Cognitive Neuroscience/Biomedical Engineering/Computer Science or related field, and experience with fMRI study design, data acquisition, and analyses (e.g., AFNI, SPM, FSL, Freesurfer). We are particularly looking for candidates with strong programming/computational background (e.g., python, R) who are familiar with linux environments. Past experience in statistics, signal/image processing, and/or Machine Learning techniques are desirable but not required. The ideal candidate would be someone who can work independently or as part of a team, with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. In exceptional circumstances, candidates with a Master’s degree combined with extensive neuroimaging experience may be considered for this position.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and includes health benefits. This is a 1-year position with the possibility of renewal for multiple years, contingent on performance and funding.
