AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hello,

You might look at some of the educational resources. There are video recordings of recent bootcamps held at NIH.

The short answers are:
1. The p-value uncorrected isn't enough to get published (and for good reason). There are a few AFNI publications about responsible use of statistics that are relevant (1, 2).

2. Your options are to use FDR (q-values) or Cluster Correction. If you do cluster correction, you don't "care" about q-values.

3. To lower your q-values you need to activate more voxels. If you tell us more about your design we can hypothesize some reasons that it's high... But often people use one of the cluster correction approaches. You can read about the ways of doing so in AFNI in this paper. And also by looking at the help of 3dttest++.
