AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Candidates are being considered for a postdoctoral research associate position in the laboratory of Dr. Luiz Pessoa (emotioncognition.org). Work in the lab focuses on the interactions between cognitive and emotional/motivational systems using functional MRI and behavioral techniques, which are interrogated with increasingly computational and mathematical techniques.

Requirements include a PhD in neuroscience or related area; candidates with degrees in engineering, CS, or related area will be considered, too. Experience in cognitive neuroscience and strong knowledge of functional MRI analysis is important. Alternatively, candidates with less knowledge of these topics will be considered if they have strong computational skills (experience with Matlab, Python, R, Stan, etc.), as well as strengths in mathematics and statistics.

The position offers excellent training in advanced aspects of neuroimaging data analysis, including machine learning, neural networks, and graph-theoretic/network techniques. The University of Maryland, College Park, offers excellent resources for neuroimaging and houses a 3T TIM Trio Siemens system. UMD, an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action; all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment. UMD is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all persons and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, pregnancy, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, political affiliation, physical or mental disability, religion, protected veteran status, genetic information, personal appearance, or any other legally protected status in all aspects of employment. UMD is actively engaged in recruiting, hiring, and promoting underrepresented communities; minorities, women, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are encouraged to apply.

This position is a one-year appointment (to start immediately) and is subject to renewal based on performance and funding. Please send your CV and the names of three references to Luiz Pessoa (celab.umd@gmail.com), if you would like to apply.
