Post-Doctoral Research Scholar position at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research (LIBR, [www.laureateinstitute.org] )
Position: Dr. Jennifer Stewart and Dr. Martin Paulus are currently seeking a post-doctoral scholar who possesses experience in adolescent and/or young adult psychopathology (externalizing and internalizing disorders) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data analysis. This post-doctoral position provides specialized training in longitudinal research charting symptom emergence and change in youth at high risk of developing mental disorders in order to facilitate identification, prevention, intervention and treatment. A successful candidate will: (1) develop, design, and implement neuroimaging research assessing sign- and goal-tracking behaviors in youth; (2) analyze fMRI, behavioral, and self-report data; (3) learn how to perform secondary multilevel (self-report, behavior, fMRI, genetic) analyses on Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study data (https://abcdstudy.org/); (4) work with research participants and LIBR staff; (5) develop an expertise in advanced machine learning, statistical causal inference, and risk prediction models; (6) prepare and publish papers, give presentations, and write K-level National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant applications; and (7) progress toward an independent career.
Institute: Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, LIBR is a privately-funded non-profit clinical neuroscience research institute attached to a major psychiatric hospital (Laureate Psychiatric Clinic & Hospital). Facilities: A state-of-the-art neuroimaging research environment, including two 3-Tesla MRI scanners (GE Discovery MR750; fully research-dedicated), equipped with blood-oxygen-level-dependent and arterial spin labeling pulse sequencing, a custom-developed real-time fMRI system, an fMRI-compatible electroencephalography (EEG) system, and a stand-alone EEG system.
Requirements: (1) Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Science, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology or Neuroscience; (2) experience analyzing fMRI data; and (3) a solid foundation in statistics. Preferred skills: (1) experience with Analysis of Functional Neuroimages (AFNI) software and scripting; (2) experience with R statistical analysis software.
Salary/Benefits: This is a full-time research position for 2 years with renewable funding up to 3-5 years. A full benefits package is available.
