BROWN UNIVERSITY BRAIN SCIENCE PROGRAM

Five Open Rank Faculty Positions: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor

As part of a major academic initiative at Brown University, the Brain Science Program announces four tenure-track positions at any rank in molecular, cellular, theoretical or computational brain science and one position for a senior distinguished scientist in any area of brain science. Research interests should include one of the following areas: neuronal cell biology, synaptic plasticity, learning and memory, neural coding, brain interfaces, perception, cognition, motivation or action. Scientists pursuing both basic research and/or applications to brain disorders are encouraged to apply. The expansion of Brain Science at Brown will include new and renovated research buildings and new facilities for transgenic mice, biological imaging, MRI and human neurophysiology. This expanded research infrastructure will complement existing state-of-the-art facilities for molecular biology, scientific visualization, multielectrode recording, fMRI, virtual reality and advanced computing.

The Brain Science Program supports and promotes interdisciplinary research and education and includes more than 80 faculty members from ten departments. Brown benefits from a highly collaborative and interactive environment with exceptional students and faculty. Appointments will be made over the next 2-3 years, starting from July 2003, and will be in one of the following departments: Applied Mathematics, Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences, Computer Science, Neuroscience, Psychology, Physics, or Engineering, with possible joint appointments in other departments within the University.
