AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

1) As Jim said, it is possible to read images from almost any source with to3d, but the amount of work required by the user (you) depends on the format. In the worst case, you need to supply all the scan parameters (image matrix, slice positions, etc.) manually. In the best case, to3d already knows how to get this info from the header of the images. In the middle case, you can try to convince me to modify the image-reading functions to deal with a new image format. Since I dinna know about the UNC format, we'll have to see. If there is documentation online somewhere, it should be pretty easy to add a new format.

2) GE and Siemens are the largest MRI manufacturers. Philips and Toshiba also make scanners for medical purposes. Varian makes scanners for research only (not FDA cleared for patient use).
