AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hello,

Just to let you know that there’s a new version of SUMA with many new and at times useful features.

Major changes to the surface controller (View --> Surface Controller):
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interactive color mapping
Threshold controls
Brightness modulation
Choice of color maps (including your own)
Coordinate bias (transforms surface data into relief: looks very cool)
Information on current cross-hair location

New programs:
-------------------
SurfPatch
Create surface patches from a set of nodes
SurfQual
Report defects in spherical surfaces
SurfSmooth
Smooth surface geometry (without shrinkage) or surface data
SurfMeasures
Output surface measurements such as thickness, area, volume, etc.
quickspec
Create a minimal spec file for one or a bunch of surfaces
FS_readannot
A program to read FreeSurfer’s surface annotation files into SUMA

New options to note:
--------------------------
in SUMA “Save View” and “Load View” to save and load viewer settings

in 3dVol2Surf -first_node and -last_node for controlling output file size

in ConvertSurface -xmat_1D for applying an affine transform to node coordinates

Documentation:
-------------------
The most up to date sources of documentation are the -help option for command line programs and ctrl+h and BHelp button for SUMA. Web site will be updated soon.

Binaries for AFNI and SUMA ver2.5 are available from AFNI’s website: [afni.nimh.nih.gov] . Binaries dated June 15, 2004 or later contain the new version.
