AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

I was wondering if anyone could give a bit more elaborate explanation of how contrasts are specified in 3dLME.R.

I'm stuck on the sentence on the help page that reads:

"0 means collapsing that factor or the average value for a covariate, ..."

Which refers to the line in the example:

Male*Face*0*0-Female*Face*0*0

My specific question is what is the rule for placement of the asterix and zeros here? Because for the other contrast, the example reads:

0*Male*0*Visual-0*Male*0*Audial

How does the different placement of *0 affect what the two contrasts are testing for?

Thanks,

Tim
