AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hello,
I've a question regard to bring freesurfer parcellation labels to AFNI.
I've read some posts that have similar questions with me, but those cannot completely helped me.

In order to bring parcellated ROIs to AFNI, I think (1) I can covert aparc+aseg.mgz to aparc+aseg.nii and use fslmath to extract ROI that I want and convert it to AFNI format (2) I can use mri_binarize to extract ROI from aparc+aseg.mgz and bring it to nift and then afni (I heard mri_binarize does not support mgz to AFNI) (3) I can to mri_label2label, change label file to sed file, then 3dSuf2Vol (4) I can use SUMA_MAKE_Spec_FS to bring parcellation to GIFTI format and do the 3dSurf2Vol.

but, I'm not sure which way should I choose since I don't know limitation of each one.
I've done (1) and (2) method, both seems to work, but I'm not sure if there's some distortion in it or not.
and most people in the AFNI board seems to choose (3) or (4), so I was wondering should I do the same.
Could you recommend which way should I choose for the analysis?

Thank you for your consideration and kindness.
