Never mind - it was an operating system upgrade issue. I was able to fix the problem by following a suggestion on the message board.
For MAC USERS using OSX 10.11 follow these instructions:
1) Reboot: hold command+R
2) Under utilities menu click on terminal
3) Type in: csrutil disable
4) Reboot your system.
No more errors :) hopefully....
