There is only one version of Python and PyQt and they work out of box with uber_subjuct.py
Homebrew is for non-developer of Mac users. It use Mac OSX built-in libraries as much as possible and hence far less library dependency problems. There is no need to waste time on building the whole system libraries from scratch like Fink or MacPorts did, especially when the system is relatively new like 10.7 or 10.8. Besides, the package of choices is rather simple and only one edition is available most of the time.
