Special characters in that file would not be
processed by the shell, meaning they do not
need to be hidden in quotes.

Also, there should not be any line continuation
characters in that file. So it should look more
simply like:

stats.4074+tlrc[16]
stats.4092+tlrc[16]
stats.4114+tlrc[16]
...
