First of all, don't worry about the stuff outside the brain: they don't mean much. And you can cosmetically mask them out whenever you want to present the final results.

Regarding the 'fatal error', could you post the following:

1) the 3dcalc command line;

2) the context of the following two commands for a subject you have trouble with:

3dinfo -verb sessionA+tlrc
3dinfo -verb sessionB+tlrc
