You can use an all-zero column in 3dREMLfit if you also use the option '-GOFORIT'
However, a simpler way might be to use the "semi-hidden" option '-matim' (which you can read about at
this link):

The file 'M' would just be the regressors you want to remove (including any constants or polynomials). Each regressor would be stored in 1 column in the file.
For output, you would use '-Rerrts' option to get the residuals = difference between the input and the fit.
