AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi AFNI Experts,

I had a few questions about Epi to Anatomical Alignment, specifically regarding boundary-based registration. I am interested in this approach because I am looking for ways to improve my anat-epi coregistration. I ran into the BBR method (Greve & Fischl, 2009), but lack context on its general use:

Does AFNI implement the BBR algorithm? Is this the -edge switch on align_epi_anat?

The BBR method is treated as an "improved EPI to structural registration" in FSL, but the -edge option does not appear in any of AFNI's recommended processing pipelines. What are your thoughts on efficacy / general application of this approach? (I know there is no "right" answer, but if anyone has any informed opinions or referred articles, I would love to hear).

Thanks very much,

Andrew
