I've also got OS Sierra and although I'm not attempting to add suma I've had some issues with home brew/getting things set up for afni as well.
I tried the "brew install cartr/qt4/qt" as suggested. It took its time but seems not everything is viable. Followed up with the "brew link qt" as the output recommended - it wasn't writeable.
I know this is likely just a lag time issue between Sierra just coming out and some patches but just wanted to get any feedback as to whether I was on the right track for attempted fixes.
