Hi again,

I think I fixed the problem by removing a local gsl file:

sudo rm /usr/local/lib/libgsl.so.0

and then resetting the $LD_LIBRARY_PATH

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib

I'd love to know if this is completely wrong!! If it's right I figure this may help someone else with a similar issue.
