AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Sun's C compiler produces faster code than gcc does. However, in my experience on our SPARC SunOS 5.8 (==Solaris 8) machine, AFNI is prone to crash when compiled with Sun's cc. I don't know why this is - over-aggressive optimization, perhaps. Anyway, this is why I no longer distribute binaries for AFNI built with Sun's compiler.

gcc and many other packages can be downloaded for Solaris from [www.sunfreeware.com]. In particular, I also recommend the netpbm package, since AFNI will use some of these programs (if they are in the path) to enhance its 2D image I/O capabilities.
