I'm having a related problem, and using tags to (partially) solve it.
You find equivalent points in both bricks and make tags for them using the
Edit Tagset plugin. Then you can use 3dTagalign to create the rotation
parameters. The only problem is that in general a linear transform from
one set of tags to another won't be a rigid rototranslation but may also
involve some scaling, and 3dTagalign/3dRotate aren't able to do that.
Are there any plans to make more general versions of these utilities?
