Hi Dave,
I'm not sure what the -U option is, but it worries me that
you have vfhit.txt on the command line twice (probably both
for the input and for the output). Did that file just get
blown away? Your waver error looks like the result of an
empty file.
I think with the -U option, you will need a different output
filename. If you don't care about that, just use the simple
form of the command, "dos2unix vfhit.txt".
If you want to find out whether a file is DOS text or not,
you can use the "file" command on it:
file vfhit.txt
It will say plain text, or DOS text, or whatever.
