AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hello Bin,

SurfaceName is used to identify a surface to be loaded into SUMA
MappingRef is used to identify a surface that is homotopic (same mesh) as SurfaceName but with an anatomically correct geometry. This is the surface that is sent to AFNI for the mapping of volumetric data.

The MappingRef surface should also be present in the spec file or else SUMA will complain.

Say we have two surfaces, one that represents the gray matter gm_surf and one that is an inflated version of gray_surf, let us call is inflated_surf. The spec file (stripped down) will have:

SurfaceName = gray_surf
MappingRef = SAME

SurfaceName = inflated_surf
MappingRef = gray_surf

When talking to afni, gray_surf will be overlaid atop the anatomy.

More info is on the website:

cheers,
ziad
