AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

If you are installing Panther (OS X 10.3), you need to install the X11 server to be able to use AFNI. This is an optional installation, which you need to specify by customizing the install -- you do this on one of the installer screens -- there is a button in the lower left corner labeled "Customize" or something like that. You can also download X11 from Apple at [www.apple.com] .

Also, to compile AFNI, you'll need to install the XCode system, which includes the compiler. I downloaded it from the Apple Developer site at [developer.apple.com] , but I believe it also comes on the Panther disks.

After you upgrade to Panther, you may try to upgrade your Fink [fink.sourceforge.net] distribution, and then use the "dselect" program. Don't do this -- dselect is broken and can destroy your ability to login and use the computer! It is better to delete Fink entirely (remove the entire "/sw/" directory tree) and reinstall from scratch. See the Fink web site for more details. I trashed my Panther installation this way, and it took me an hour to figure out how to recover.
