AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

You will need to make a copy of the ANALYZE dataset in AFNI format. You can do this with the to3d or 3dANALYZEtoAFNI programs. In either case, you must be sure to get the spatial orientation correct. If they are not, your markers and transformation will not work. When you open the dataset in AFNI, you should see

- in the sagittal Image window, the subject's nose at the left and the top of his head at the top
- in the coronal Image window, the subject's top of head at the top
- in the axial Image window, the subject's front at the top and back at the bottom

If you see some other orientation of images, then something is wrong with the orientation selected. Also, you must get the subject's Left and Right correct, but this is nearly impossible to do just by looking at the images -- you just have to know (from the scanner, or from markers you placed on the subject prior to scanning) which side is Left and which is Right.
