AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi,
I was wondering if it was appropriate to have as the 3 levels to the a factor in 3dANOVA2 be as follows:
A
B
A-B
Where the A and B are main effects and A-B are contrasts performed for each subject individually. In this particular case I would take the mean of A-B by way of -amean # and use that for further data analysis.

I have noticed that using pre-contrasted main effects (A-B) and averaging them, as I mentioned above ,gives me better results than having the ANOVA program contrast them via -adiff. Hence the reason for the question.

Any answer would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your time!
