History of AFNI updates

Folks:

We are in need of revamping our subject data filename and directory structure conventions, and would appreciate any insights before plunging ahead. Specifically:

1. If we rename existing afni files (or move their directory locations), is there a comprehensive list somewhere of fields we'll need to fix in the header files? I already know about geometry parent, any others to watch for?

(And is there any point to worrying about the history section having old file names/paths? Does afni ever use this?)

2. I am fuzzy on how the afni viewer locates volumes to offer for display... When does it successfully find volumes in subdirectories? Does the top-level directory that you start afni in have to contain at least one volume to give afni some encouragement to proceed?

Thanks,

Graham
