AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Jim manages the Sciware server here at NIH, and is probably not interested in running AFNI/SUMA himself. But this might be a good opportunity to let the AFNI user community at NIH know about Sciware. Sciware is a CIT/NIH sponsored file server that provides a variety of scientific application packages to the NIH community. Most applications are freeware like AFNI and SUMA, but other applications are also available such as Matlab. Applications run locally on each user's computer rather than at a central application server, like Helix. Other applications include MedX, MIPAV, NeuroLens, Tomovision. The Sciware website is sciware.nih.gov.

The program is still in a trial mode, but can provide an easy way to try a large variety of applications and have Jim handle the upgrades for all of them. Still, for AFNI and SUMA, Bob can push updates to each NIH user's computer, as long as he's given access to it.

If there are users who are interested in SGI distribution, there is this one available.
