AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

I responded earlier by E-mail but it might take longer to get posted... Here's a copy:

"Okay, enough about you...let's get back to me..." :)

Ziad,

I am trying to figure out if/how the template change relates
to my data.

1) Does the template change only matter for data transformed
with the auto_tlrc code? What about data talairached by placing
markers in the GUI?

No change

2) Does "where am I" automatically use the current template,
assuming the version of AFNI is current?
whereami in its different incarnations takes a coordinate and looks up what is there from various atlases. None of the atlases are affected by that notice. However if you normalized to the old MNI152, your coordinates will be slightly off which would mean that your whereami query would be slightly off too.

3) Am I correct in understanding that it's not only necessary to
have an updated template, but also necessary to use adwarp to
transform all previously talairached data?
You need to be concerned ONLY IF you used @auto_tlrc WITH the TT_152 template.
ONLY if that is the case, then you have two options:
1- 3dWarp -mni2tta on the talairach datasets that you need to correct.
2- You could run whereami on the locations reported from datasets warped to the old TT_152 but with the added -space MNI to get the corrected location. This option is only available in command line whereami.

Sorry if I am confused and worried...
I am sorry to have caused you pain but don't worry much, I doubt the differences would be worth the sorrow...
