When I execute the following:
plugout_drive -com "RESCAN_THIS" -quit
if there are, indeed, new datasets waiting to be found, AFNI crashes with the following message:
perlman> plugout_drive -com "RESCAN_THIS" -quit
PO: plugout connection from host 127.0.0.1
PO: plugout connection name is ManOfLaMancha

Now, I understand that plugout_drive is deprecated technology, and the new thing is NIML. But I'm not aware of any shell-scriptable equivalent of "plugout_drive" to allow me to send commands using NIML from a shell script.
So, I guess I'm looking for either of two kinds of answers:
1. how to fix the crash I'm experiencing, or
2. how to use NIML straightforwardly instead.
This is part of a simple batch script which does ongoing processing, with user inspection at intermediate steps. I can work around this problem by simply re-launching AFNI each time, but that wastes a bunch of extra seconds... :)
Thanks!
