Hi,
I'm trying to convert a nifti format file (nii) to AFNI format using the following command:
3dcopy -prefix gefunct1+orig. gefunct1+orig.nii
When I give this command, it just seems to hang, and never actually does the conversion. The longest I've let it sit before killing it is about half-an-hour. The only output that it gives it the following:
++ 3dcopy: AFNI version=AFNI_2007_05_29_1644 (Jun 25 2007) [64-bit]
Any ideas what might be going wrong here? The machine is in fact a 64-bit machine, and I've used 3dcopy on this machine to copy brik/head files before, but not to make the conversion from nii to brik/head.
Just to give a bit of background, the nii file was created directly from Siemens dicom files using unpacksdcmdir from the freesurfer package. I used this program because it does a good job of automatically pulling out information relevant to unpacking these particular dicom files, whereas AFNI's to3d (for example) does not -- perhaps because the freesurfer package is developed at the same location where these dicoms were collected. So I'd like to continue using unpacksdcmdir, if possible.
However, unpacksdcmdir will not directly output brik/head files, but it will output nifti files. I am aware that AFNI can read nifti files, but I've run into a separate issue with that (a "3dAttribute exec failure" when attempting to use afni_proc.py with nii files). But I'll leave that problem to the side for now, unless that might be an easier one to solve.
In any case, thanks for taking the time to consider my problem.
