Hi guys,
I've been using 3dLME a little bit over the last couple of weeks and had a question why the default type of sums of squares is set to SEQUENTIAL as opposed to MARGINAL. On the AFNI website, [
afni.nimh.nih.gov], one of the cons listed for Type I sums of squares is its lack of appropriateness for factorial designs. Given that 3dLME is especially equipped at dealing with unbalanced factorial designs and taking the example given on the Linear Mixed-Effects Modeling AFNI site, wouldn't type III sums of squares be better suited?
Thanks!
