As I understand it, it's important to do registration before despiking:

However, it seems there are cases where it's not too important:

"If you just have a very few spikes, registering before or after probably makes no difference."
Is there ever a case where it's better to despike before registering? To be safe, should I just register first? Or is a visual inspection enough to know which order works better for my data?
