History of AFNI updates

I have two questions about using Afni tools to find an optimal stimulus ordering.

1) Some websites (including [afni.nimh.nih.gov]) suggest using RSFgen, followed by waver -GAM, followed by 3dDeconvolve -nodata. Other websites (including [afni.nimh.nih.gov]) skip the waver step, and feed the RSFgen output directly to 3dDeconvolve. What are the pros and cons of each approach?

2) I thought you were supposed to use a polort of 0 whenever you ran 3dDeconvolve in -nodata mode. But recently I've been seeing examples all over the web (including the first link above) that use a polort of 1, 2, or higher. What gives?

Thanks!
Dave
