AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi all,

I was going to give 3dBlurToFWHM a shot on gray matter probability images segmented out of T1 scans with SPM5, as a preprocessing step for a VBM analysis. Those images are 1x1x1 mm and I would like to smooth them to 12 mm FWHM. It seems though that 3dBlurToFWHM takes *forever* (more than 1 hour for each scan, on a 8-core machine, using a brain-only mask). I assume it would be sensible to use values other than the default ones for the parameters -rate and -nbhd for this type of images to speed up the process, but I am not sure about which values should I use.

Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

giuseppe
