AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Elizabeth,

It looks like the weighting method gives slightly higher effect estimates for most voxels in the regions of interest?

Did you happen to get the approximate t-statistic for the weighting method since a significance comparison would also be interesting (plus it may benefit group analysis with 3dMEMA)?

It would be interesting to carry the same comparison to group level and see if the weighting approach still performs better.

Meta analysis has been around for a few decades, especially in medical research:

One paper that applied this approach to FMRI data analysis I know of is:

Lazar NA, Luna B, Sweeney JA, Eddy WF. Combining brains: a survey of methods for statistical pooling of information. Neuroimage. 2002 Jun;16(2):538-50.
