AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi

I'm having a very similar issue to lsmorris.

I try running suma (either with just "suma" or after opening "afni -niml" with suma -spec MNI_N27_both.spec -sv MNI_N27_SurfVol.nii)

I get warning---------
trying lame single buffer visual
++ Notice SUMA_XtWarn_handler (SUMA_display.c:4114 @11:12:13):
X11 Warning 1:trying lame single buffer visual
Have 1 X11 warnings so far, see Help-->Message Log if curious.
This notice is shown once for each additional 10 warnings.

Then a series of lines that look like this -------
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvSurface #14/14 (mappable via Local Domain Parent), loading ...

Finally suma engine "starts to listen" but it crashes my xming--------
SUMA_Engine: Starting to listen ...
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server "localhost:22.0"
after 19841 requests (19841 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server "localhost:22.0"
after 671 requests (646 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

I have tried updating suma with "suma -update_env" but I'm still getting this issue.
I'm going to continue looking into if it's something wrong with xming but any help you can offer would be much appreciated!

The output to afni_system_check.py -check_all is:
========================= summary, please fix: =========================
* login shell 'bash', trusting user to translate from 'tcsh'
* shell bash: consider sourcing (non-login) .bashrc from (login) .bash_profile
* have python version 2.6.6, consider using 2.7.x
* missing R packages (see rPkgsInstall)
* consider running: cp /opt/afni/AFNI.afnirc ~/.afnirc
* consider running: apsearch -update_all_afni_help
* insufficient data for AFNI bootcamp

And I am using SSH Secure Shell to run suma from my research centre's servers.

Thanks
