Dear AFNI users-
We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:
https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov
Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.
The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.
Sincerely,
AFNI HQ

Hi Nick
Sorry you're having trouble. Could you post the full output of the tedana.py step, including the cost values reported during the ICA optimization?
Does this subject have very high motion? Or were there any major image artifacts?

Hi John
Judging from your use of --tlrc flag, you're using an older version, and I suggest you get the latest AFNI. You can follow to keep track of versions and issues. The ME-ICA pipeline is designed to work with native space data (converted from DICOMs) and produce standard space volumes (if desired, using --MNI or --space flags). I'm not sure what other procedures have been appli

Hi John
When data is preprocessed with meica.py, we find that the defaults of kdaw=10 and rdaw=1 works stably across a wide range of datasets (7T, multiband, 11.7T rat, kids, adults). What values are you using? kdaw>20 will likely lead to some instability. Datasets processed with kdaw=10-15 should be comparable - you can show this based on similarity of total variance explained by the ICA.

Hi John
Sorry there's a bug. We fixed it already but it's not in the AFNI distro yet. We'll push the fix very soon (a day or 2). More importantly, however, ME-ICA requires a minimum of 3 TEs. The minimum of 3 is just fine for the analysis, but 2-echo data are not supported.
