Introduction

Current research interests of Unit on Statistical Genomics include methods development for analyzing next generation sequencing data in population-based data and in related individuals. Her unit has also made efforts on data dimension reduction. Dr. Yao’s unit has also collaborated with both intramural and extramural scientist to apply the most effective statistical methods to analyze the emerging data sets with complex data structure.

The main focus is on mental health disorders including biomarker studies related to drug efficacy using multiple phenotypic data and genomic data. Dr. Yao and her research fellows have recently joined the Psychiatric Genetic Consortium (PGCII) as part of the analytic group for the cross-disorder analysis (focusing on genetic overlaps between SCZ and OCD).
