AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Nick,

Your wording of within- vs. between-maps confused me quite a bit before. Thanks for the clarifications.

The interpretation of such a direct comparison is very straightforward. However, I see two potential issues with your scaling scheme:

1) The z-scores scaled by their square root of SOS (sum of squares) follow some sort of t-distribution with a scaling factor? Running t-test on such scaled values could be problematic if you don't have enough number of subjects.

2) The square root of SOS depends on the number of subjects, and is not exactly the standard deviation. How are you going to interpret the result from your scaled method?
