Hi all,

I recently reinstalled AFNI on a work computer because the binaries on it were from 2011 and I couldn't get @update.afni.binaries -d working. I took a few notes while following the installation guide and thought I would share them in case anyone stumbles into the same issues. These notes are probably irrelevant for anyone not using Mac OS X El Capitán (10.11).

First, in step 2.d. of the OS X guide, I thought it was important to mention that people should check what version of gcc is installed by Homebrew (at this step: brew install gcc --with-all-languages --without-multilib). At the very end of its output, Homebrew will tell you what version of gcc it installed. This is important because the next command will not work unless gcc version 5.3.0 was installed.

Second, when running sudo rPkgsInstall -pkgs ALL (step 4), there was an issue with the installation of the Rmpi package. I eventually found this link (http://www.stats.uwo.ca/faculty/yu/Rmpi/), and I managed to install the package by following the instructions provided there.

The rest of the AFNI installation went smoothly, so I have nothing else to comment on.
