AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Anand,

You are using a different shell (the shell is what reads the commands
you type, interprets them, and executes the appropriate program (like
'ls', 'afni' or 'xsnow')).

You are using bash, not csh (or tcsh). Specifically, that "set path = ..."
syntax is for either the C-shell (csh) or the T-shell (tcsh). If you are
learning, you probably want tcsh as your default shell.

So:

For now, any time you open a new terminal window to practice all
great things AFNI, make the first command you enter "tcsh". This
will begin a new shell for you. Everything you do after that will be
in the T-shell.

On a more permanent level, ask your system administrator to make
/bin/tcsh your permanent login shell (by changing /bin/bash to
/bin/tcsh on your line of /etc/passwd).

Just for reference, do you have a sys admin, or is it you?

Hope this helps,

- Rick
