AFNI Message Board

Dear AFNI users-

We are very pleased to announce that the new AFNI Message Board framework is up! Please join us at:

https://discuss.afni.nimh.nih.gov

Existing user accounts have been migrated, so returning users can login by requesting a password reset. New users can create accounts, as well, through a standard account creation process. Please note that these setup emails might initially go to spam folders (esp. for NIH users!), so please check those locations in the beginning.

The current Message Board discussion threads have been migrated to the new framework. The current Message Board will remain visible, but read-only, for a little while.

Sincerely, AFNI HQ

Hi Doug,

The first factor (A) - column 1 is group (autistic vs. control) - between
The second factor (B) - column 2 is emotion (emotional vs. neutral) - within
The third factor (C) - column 3 is orientation (straight vs. side) - within

There are 14 individuals with autism and 12 controls.

Each subject performed a 6.75 minute task while functional images were acquired.

The task was an event-related design with 40 trials.
30 second blank screen time at the beginning.
Each trial consisted of an image of a face for 3secs followed by 5, 6 or 7sec blank screen (roughly equal number of blank screen times).
The face was either emotional or neutral and either looking straight ahead or quarter turned to the left or right.
Equal number of straight vs. side faces.
24 emotional faces and 16 neutral faces - equally crossed with orientation.
15 seconds of blank screen at the end of all the faces.

Each subject only performed the task once.

Is that enough information?

We are planning more studies with at least as many subjects and probably as many variables (or more).

Thanks,
Kim
