The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is seeking candidates to coordinate and analyze information about specific portfolios of grants and contracts, and to coordinate scientific and programmatic activities that span multiple divisions of the NIMH and the NIH. Responsibilities of this position include conducting analyses of the types and distribution of science—and related fiscal data—in several grant and contract funding programs; assisting in the identification of strategic opportunities across different research-funding programs and developing and implementing ways to coordinate the activities of those programs and the research they support. The incumbent attends scientific review meetings to represent pertinent program interests, and organizes and leads the trans-NIMH working group on small business research programs to strategically coordinate these across the Institute. Incumbent attends and assists in the scientific planning and organizing of scientific meetings and consortium activities in areas of neuroscience, bioengineering, informatics, and computational biology. The scientific content of these programs is very wide ranging, including both biomedical science and the advanced technologies that are used to conduct biomedical research. The scientific and technical background appropriate for this position could come from any of a large number of areas, including, but not limited to: chemistry, biology, genetics, neuroscience, psychology, bioengineering, informatics, etc. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen and have at least a bachelor’s degree. The person filling this position will work closely with the Associate Director of the NIMH for Scientific Technology Research. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is required. Strong analytic, communication, and organizational skills are also required. The position will be filled on a permanent basis. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
